LAWRENCE — After months of vitriolic hearings that pitted a developer against local residents, the township zoning board is poised to decide the fate of a drug detox center proposed for an office park on Federal City Road.
The Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment was expected to listen to public comment and possibly take action on a controversial use variance application for a 38-bed residential drug and alcohol detoxification center as The Ledger went to press.
Treating problem drug users and keeping them on benefits costs £3.6 billion a year, a report has revealed.
The Simone Investment Group LLC will find out next week whether its request for a use variance to allow a residential drug and alcohol detoxification center in an office building on Federal City Road will be granted by the township Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The opponents of a drug and alcohol detoxification center, proposed for an office park at 100 Federal City Road, began to present their case for denying a use variance before the township Zoning Board of Adjustment last week, in the seventh of a series of public hearings.
