Addiction Feedback: no…but methadone is just a crutch…my brother did it the old fashion way off a HUGE heroin addiction, cold turkey with LOTS of support from his family, i applaud you for looking into getting better….good luck

Addiction Feedback: I was on oxycontin for 3 years. Some of my friends went to methadone clinics, today they are still on it or on some type of drug. I went cold turkey and quit. I tried inpatient rehab, but my insurance wouldn’t cover it. It can be dangerous going cold turkey, but I did it and am glad i did. Methadone is just a crutch. Although, you need to see a doctor, depending on your use, you may have to use it. It’s actually possible to die from withdrawals from opiates. I’ll tell you, I was miserable. the physical and mental withdrawals were bad, but with a therapist and family that cared about me, I succeeded. I’ve been clean for 5 years and am happy now. It’s great to not have to worry about how to get your “fix” for the next day.
